Introduction

On Wednesday 10th October 2007 a training workshop for women in the Benin Greens Mutual was held in the Riviera hotel hall in Cotonou. The workshop was organized by the African Centre for Womens Political Training and Good Governance on the theme : » Triggering Community Change «. The official opening ceremony began at 9am with press coverage, and was jointly chaired by Mrs Célestine KOUGNANDE, President of the Benin Womens Mutual and Mr Pierre AHOUANOZIN, Trainer and representing the Director of the African Centre for Womens Political Training and Good Governance. In her opening speech, Mrs KOUGNANDE explained why it is important to train women in politics, for good governance and sustainable development. Many women are afraid and often very timid during brainstorming sessions and national political forums.
