The Benin Greens was created in 1995 by a group of enviromentalists, who came from NGO´s, youth movements and women movements.

The party structure was determinded during the last congress, as follows:

Federal Council

The Federal Council has the following members:

• 4 regional representatives
• 2 members of the Greens youth federation
• some founding members
• 2 members of the Greens women's convention

The Federal Council has a total of 29 members.

Executive Members of Federal Council

There are 11 members. They are elected by the Federal Council for a term of 2 years.
